David Stenshoel

David Stenshoel has performed professionally since 1975, playing violin and saxophone in a wide variety of styles: Middle Eastern with Jawaahir Orchestra, Layalli Sharque, and the Electric Arab Orchestra; Western Swing with the Radio Rangers and Dusty Drapes and the Dusters, jazz with Imp Ork, Café Accordian Orchestra and Honeysuckle Hot Club; Multi-ethnicwith Boiled in Lead, Crossing Borders, and the Ethnic Dance Theater Orchestra, Persian with Robayat, African with Shalita and SunPlug’d , Sephardic with Voices of Sepharad, and Klezmer with the Yiddishe Folksmenshn. Other groups Stenshoel has played with include Abtew Kebede and Boran Band, AutoMatix, Flying Ace, Infinity Art Unit, Intuitive Bikers, Jan Reimer Band, Radio Kings, and Felonious Bosch. Stenshoel won the 1988 Minnesota Music Academy Award for Acoustic Ethnic Violin, and has recorded for films and for award-winning LPs and CDs. He has had the honor of playing with Simone Shaheen, Tiny Moore, and Don Cherry.
